Day 2 coverage of the 2010 SEMA show in Las Vegas, NV. Our intrepid editors ventured out beyond the halls of the 4-wheel drive arena and into the world of hot rods, electronics, tools and more.
We continued to find tons of great cross-over goodies that apply to our pavement-free world, whether it be fuel delivery systems, cooling systems, performance monitoring systems and so on.

Flex-A-Lite – www.flex-a-lite.com Flex-A-Lite has been a name we have turned to for years to keep all of our rigs running cool. This year they added even more options to the Flex-a-fit line with a direct fit thin mount radiator for Jeep TJ’s. They have also added a new line of radiators for the side by side UTV crowd. If you are looking for an environmentally safe, NHRA approved cooling additive that can lower temps up to 20 degrees, and protect vital cooling parts, then give them a call and order up some Flex-a-chill.

Miller Welders – www.millerwelds.com Miller stepped up to the plate and hit yet another home run this year with several new products that should interest you. Their new Diversion 180 TIG welder is now available for the serious hobbyist (borderline commercial production). In “keep it simple” form, they’ve made the switch between aluminum and steel welding easier than ever before and it offers higher amperage than other units and their patented MVP plug that allows you to plug into 110 or 220V circuits in a snap. They also showed off some of their new helmets and a new “Cool Band” helmet cooling system and a new breathable welding jacket that can take some serious heat, but cook the person welding.

Holley Performance – www.holley.com Always on the cutting edge of performance, Holley brought out 3 new EFI systems that will fit just about any budget and performance level. From the “install-it-and-forget-it” self-learning ease of the Avenger series to the Dominator system that will support superchargers and nitrous systems, they definitely have a system for you. Under the Holley line is also the Earl’s fitting line, everything from fuel and brake lines to cooling systems, chances are you can find the lines you need from Earl’s.

Corsa / db Exhaust – www.dbexhaust.com A leader in exhaust technology, Corsa introduced a new line of exhaust systems with lower pricing, but all the Corsa quality we have come to expect. The new DB series features all stainless throughout, a single or dual outlet design and horsepower gains across all the applications. The Corsa DB series has 2 different variations for the Jeep JK. If you’re looking to give your vehicle the best in exhaust technology then give the folks at Corsa a call.

Tesla Electronics / G-Tech – www.gtechpro.com The guys at Tesla Electronics have found a way to improve on an already incredible performance monitoring product. Known ‘round-the-world for the G-Tech in car performance monitoring systems, they’ve upped the ante once again with some very cool features. Like the G-Tech’s of old, the all-new G-Tech Pro utilizes high-frequency GPS signals to assist with vehicle locating and data monitoring. It’s even rugged enough to work in off-road situations, too.

Yukon Gear & Axle – www.yukongear.com Once again the engineers and design guru’s at Yukon Alxe and Gear have working overtime to bring you the latest, greatest driveline products. Along with an expanded line for just about every locker that Yukon makes, they also had a new free spin hub conversion kit on display for ¾ and 1 ton trucks. Chromoly axles, Super strong u-joints, and lockers galore, if you need it for your diff, chances are Yukon makes it.

Flowmaster – www.flowmastermufflers.com It’s the sound every car, truck, or SUV should have, that distinctive Flowmaster rumble. The folks at Flowmaster have an exhaust system for just about every vehicle. On display was just about every muffler Flowmaster makes, from the open design Super 10 series, to the quiet rumble of the Delta 50 series, if you drive it, chances are Flowmaster has a muffler or full exhaust system for it.

GoPoint – www.gopointtech.com One of our favorite tech companies, GoPoint Technology (makers of the GoPoint iPhone OBD II scanner system), hasn’t stopped innovating since their release of last year’s iPhone OBD II scanner. On the contrary, they released their new GL2 and BT1 cables, which now work with the iPhone, iTouch and the new iPad, allowing you to monitor additional systems on your rig, such as ABS braking systems, Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems, Stability Control and more. They also were showing off their coming-soon BT1 cable… err… cable-less attachment that uses Blue Tooth wireless.

Hurst – www.hurst-shifters.com New in the Hurst display this year was a cool new HardDrive shifter. This billet shifter sports an aggressive design and with universal fitment for Hurst manual shifters and select automatic models.

Bilstein – www.bilsteinus.com Bilstein released a number of new off-road focused products at the 2010 SEMA show including the 5165 Series Reservoir Shock available for lifted truck & SUV applications. These monotube, reservoir-type shocks feature eye-to-eye ends for custom fitment, a large displacement 46mm piston and Bilstein’s corrosion resistance triple “C” finish. Also new for off-road applications are two Bilstein Bump Stops in both 2” or 3” travel options.

BMF Wheels – www.bmfwheels.com BMF Wheels burst onto the SEMA floor this year with aggressive wheel designs for off-road and lifted truck enthusiasts. Available in chrome, black and soon, PVD finishes, BMF Wheels are all TPMS compatible and available in a wide range of sizes and applications. One of the coolest things that we discovered at the BMF booth, besides their great looking wheel designs, is a new program in which BMF Wheels will give away one set of wheels to a selected Veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars each month for one year with the first set to be given away at SEMA. Future recipients can be nominated through the BMF Wheels website.

Derale – www.derale.com New this year from Derale was their Hyper-Cool Extreme cooling module. This 100% water-proof module (fan motor can withstand full water submersion) is designed primarily for engine oil or transmission fluid cooling but through special features like corrosion and ethanol resistant o-ringed fittings can also be used for fuel or any other automotive fluid cooling.

Edelbrock – www.edelbrock.com Edelbrock was in force this year with over 70 new products. Two in particular that caught our eyes were their PRO-FLO XT and PRO-FLO 2 fuel injection kits. These EXTREMELY complete kits offer the DIY off-road enthusiast with every necessary to install a high-performance fuel injection system. This includes all conversion components (manifolds, throttle bodies, injectors, fuel rails, fuel pump, regulator, O2 sensor, fuel lines, etc.), hardware, harnesses, ECU and control module. These complete kits even include a high performance distributor and ignition coil. Both systems are controllable through a dash-mounted interface for quick adjustments as well as through laptop computer for fine tuning.

Chicago Brand – www.chicagobrand.com More well known for their measuring tools (e.g. calipers, gages, angle measurers, etc.), Chicago Brand brought a new tool to the show, their Open-End Ratchet. Available in both SAE and metric sizes, this cool tool allows you to fit a wrench into an extremely tight and hooded spot and ratchet away with a good amount of force. Unlike closed-end ratchet wrenches, you can slip this tool into just about any position and turn without ever coming off of the bolt or nut. Also on display were a variety of their measuring tools and more.

Firestone Industrial – www.firestoneindustrial.com Makers of super-high quality air springs, Firestone Industrial brought their newly revised R4Tech air suspension conversion system to bear. Designed to replace the extra stiff factory springs in full-size Dodge, Ford and Chevy trucks, this suspension conversion system softens the ride, provides greater towing / hauling capabilities and provides the user with their “kneeling” capability. Very cool stuff indeed.

Ingersoll Rand – www.ingersollrandproducts.com Makers of heavy duty, commercial air tools, Ingersoll Rand stole the tool show with several of their new inventions. First off, their new impact ratchet is absolutely amazing. A combination impact gun and air ratchet provides the user with the ability to tighten / loosen nuts and bolts in hard to reach places with the power of an impact gun, but the convenience and form factor of an air ratchet – able to fit in tight spaces. They also had on deck a new set of their battery powered hand tools such as right-angle cut-off wheels, ratchets, drills, impact guns and more. Also on display was their new “street legal” Thunder Gun. The Thunder Gun is the impact gun used by professional NASCAR teams, but a consumer version is now available.
