I’ve heard it said that simply adding rims to a car or truck can have a dramatic effect on the eye of the beholder. It’s also no secret that many used-car lots will spend a few hundred dollars on a set of cheap, yet good looking rims to increase their return on investment some ten fold.
For those of you that have been in the 4 wheel drive sport for any length of time will know that Alcoa (and Mickey Thompson’s “Alcoa M/T” respectively) is one of the most sought after rims on the market. They’ve become incredibly famous for their simple, durable 8-holed aluminum rims. Most of us however don’t know that they also make many other brands and styles as you’ll find below.
M/T Classic
Here are the traditional 
Alcoa M/T Classic rims that so many of us have become to recognize over the years. The M/T Classic, and all other Alcoa rims, are hot-die-forged using a 3-story, 8,000 ton hydraulic press to create a hot ingot of 6061-T6 aluminum. According to Alcoa, only hot-die-forging yields the strongest possible metallic grain structure, following the flow and shape of the wheel. As well, M/T’s forging process have tested to strength 4 times greater than cast aluminum and nearly double that of steel. We just think they look great!
M/T Classics come in 8 different sizes and 26 different bolt patterns that should fit just about any rig on the road.
M/T Challenger
The M/T Challenger’s are another very popular brand from Alcoa M/T and as you can see, we 
installed a set on our 2000 Ford F250 Super Duty.
Like all other Alcoa wheels, they are designed and approved to be used with larger tires. All M/T wheels meet or exceed SAE or OEM standards and come with a five year, limited warranty. With a load rating of up to 3,000 pounds per wheel, these rims exceed the standards for almost every SUV and Light Truck available.
Aloca Hot Shot
New from Alcoa are their “Hot Shot” line of wheels. What appears to be a cross-breed of the Challenger and the Classic is sure to be an instant success when it hits the street.
The Hot Shot wheels are designed specifically for Dualie trucks on a 16X6 wheel size and fit certain GM, Dodge and Ford trucks. Unlike most dualie wheels on the market that start life as two or more pieces, the Hot Shot wheels are made from a solid aluminum ingot and is forged into the sleek looking wheel you see here.
