Step 1
 Remove the front bumper and any front mounted accessories to ease the installation of the winch and mounting plate.

Step 2
Before mounting the winch to the mounting plate, you must install the hydraulic solenoid onto the back of the winch. Be sure to follow the instructions included with the winch when installing the solenoid.

Step 3
The winch must be bolted to the mounting plate with the four supplied bolts and spacers. Install the roller fair lead at this time with the supplied hardware.

Step 4
Set the winch and mounting plate onto the front cross member and line up the holes in the side of the mounting plate with the holes in the vehicle frame. Due to the shackle reversal system and custom bumper mounts on our Jeep, this step was a bit more complex than it will be for most installs. Tighten the four bolts and nuts to the recommended torque per the instructions.

Step 5
 Using the hydraulic hoses supplied with the winch, connect the hoses and necessary fittings to the back of the winch solenoid. Route the hoses to the power steering pump and steering box per the instructions. The installation kit comes with a wide variety of fittings to accommodate your specific application, find the bend and thread pitch your vehicle requires and connect the hoses to the pump and box. Note: route the hoses away from sharp objects and sources of high heat, ie: exhaust and intake manifolds.

Step 6
Determine a location for the remote control plug terminal. We chose to drill and mount it on our grill, but it's your choice. Once the hole has been drilled and it is secured you must route the wires to the winch and small relay included with the winch.

Step 7
 Mount the relay in the engine compartment with the two small screws provided. The relay requires a 12-volt source to power the hydraulic solenoid and a suitable ground. Make these connections per the instructions.

Step 8
Fill the power steering reservoir with fluid. I recommend a synthetic power steering fluid, as it dissipates heat better, but you can use any standard power steering fluid.

Step 9
Double check all hose and electrical connections, and start up your vehicle. Plug in the remote control, and test your new winch by setting the levers to the high position and try powering the cable out. At this point you should connect the winch cable to another vehicle or a stationary object and power out the cable and power it back in to tighten it, and roll it neatly on the drum. Make sure that you have tension on the cable at all times to keep it from kinking on the drum.

Step 10
Take the vehicle and a friend's vehicle to your favorite spot and convince your friend to get stuck so you can rescue him and try out your new winch! Good luck!
