| so i pulled the engine on my 94 ford F250 it had the 5.8 in it and i am planning on rebuilding it. now i need horsepower but torque is what matters since this truck is used to pull a car trailer. any ideas on what to do to the engine would be much appreciated. and i am on a small budget here. |

you can get a cam and lifter kit. you probably want a kit designed for the best tourque at low rpms, for towing power. try looking at edelbrock performer plus cams, i think some of their cams are designed for carb'd engines but make sure it will work with your efi. you can check out some voodoo cams too.
you could also get some headers designed for low end-mid range tourque... a jet computer chip could reprogram some stuff to... but i dont know about the engine light. i use a little piece of eletrical tape on my ford. |

Danny - I would suggest talking with someone like Edelbrock or Holley. You can call their help desk and simply ask the same questions. The reason I recommend this, is that you can get an entire kit designed for this stuff, with MATCHED parts. Otherwise, you'll end up trying to piece things together from different manufacturers and it will be a real PITA. It will be a pain, because tolerances between different manufacturers may be too great, which requires additional machining and such.

Yup. The 460's were bolted up to both C6 and E40D transmissions in a variety of applications.
Make sure though, that the input shaft, torque converter and flywheel are all correct though...
