I have a 2000 wrangler TJ with a gutless 2.5. Can any one give me some suggestions on what and how to gain some power and gas milage??? This jeep is my new toy. I drive it on a regular basis. I might be getting 8 to 10 mpg. It has a 3 or 4 inch lift with 32 inch tires. In the long run I will do a engine swap. For now and the next year or so I just need a little more economy and power. You can reach me at sanderson5546@yahoo.com to keep from tying up space on this forum

This is what this forum is for, passing and exchanging information that will help others.

There are a ton of articles for upgrading your jeep, just remember when you add more power you should beef up your drive train too.

So gears, engine & drive train would be a good spot to start your research.

I hope that helps some.

Hi Steve - You might consider a free flowing exhaust, a cool air dam, and a throttle body spacer. They're all relatively inexpensive ways to bolt on 5-20 HP. We've reviewed a number of those items on our site here, so you can see our unbiased reviews.

Since you have a naturally aspirated engine, I'd strongly suggest that you don't think about doing a chip, as you won't get much performance (or MPG) out of it, and the dollar-to-horsepower gain is pretty wretched.
