New X-Beam Reversible, X-Beam Flex and Spline Ratcheting Wrenches Bring New Features and Benefits to XL Product Line

LAS VEGAS (November, 2008) - GearWrench® today unveiled the XL X-Beam Reversible, XL X-Beam Flex and the XL Spline at the 2008 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas.  The three new ratcheting wrench innovations in the extra long "XL" line allow professional tool users to access hard-to-reach fasteners with up to 25 percent longer beam lengths and a ratcheting box end that requires as little as five degrees.

Gearwrench XL X-Beam

"The automotive industry's response to our X-Beam technology has been phenomenal," said Marc Mangus, senior brand manager for GearWrench.  "We are pleased to add the new X-Beam Reversible and Flex ratcheting wrenches, which provide additional versatility to the product line known for revolutionizing the wrench category at SEMA two years ago. The new XL Spline enables tool users that ability to use one tool on six different fasteners with the added benefits of the extra long beam and a ratcheting box end."

XL X-Beam Reversible and XL X-Beam Flex Ratcheting Wrenches
XL X-Beam Reversible offers a reversible lever that allows users to alternate from loosening to tightening motions without flipping the wrench over.  The unique 15-degree offset provides clearance for users' hands.  The XL X-Beam Flex Wrench features a flex hinge on the box end of the wrench allowing users to adjust the offset angle when working in tight spaces.  One end of the X-Beam wrench is forged at a 90-degree angle from the other end, and the tapered handle is thicker on both sides than a standard wrench.  An independent test conducted on behalf of the Arthritis Foundation yielded a favorable review of the X-Beam and its acceptance as the first hand tool in the organization's Ease-of-Use commendation program.

GearWrench XL Spline Ratcheting Wrench
The new GearWrench XL Splineratcheting wrench works on a wide assortment of fasteners including spline, six-point, six-point rounded, twelve-point, square, and E-Torx® types. The GearWrench Surface Drive Plus feature reduces fastener rounding and delivers up to 25 percent more torque than standard wrenches.

"The newest product innovations from GearWrench were developed based on hands-on feedback we receive from end users at the SEMA show and throughout the year in automotive shops," said Mangus.  "These new products are designed to increase productivity and solve problems that no other tool can solve."

GearWrench also announced its entire product line is now available at more than 3,200 Advance Auto Parts stores nationwide. Advance Auto Parts stocks GearWrench ratcheting wrenches, ratchets, hand sockets, bit sockets, screwdrivers, pliers and combination wrenches.
